Recruitment & Assessment
Sport Support has a two level recruitment process. All potential instructors’ details are entered into our registration database where they are vetted for initial suitability through the checking of qualifications and references, a current CRB disclosure and evaluation of an in depth application form. This is then followed by an interview and practical observation assessment by a member of the Sport Support Services project operational management team. Once all elements are completed to a satisfactory level we will authorize the instructor to deliver on projects on our behalf.
Employment & Induction
Sport Support employs instructors directly through our PAYE system or by means of self employed status if the instructor prefers. Both are treated identically, receiving a full company induction that covers our health and safety, child protection, equal opportunity and best practice policies. We also advise on planning and preparation for sessions and effective evaluation.
Correct & Appropriate Approach
Sport Support will liaise with its customers to establish the target group that a session or programme is designed for, thus ensuring that we select, advise and support our instructors to be certain that delivery is correct and appropriate to meet the desired outcomes.
Professional Development & Training
All instructors who are registered with or employed by Sport Support have access to a range of professional development and further training. This includes access to governing body qualifications, sports leaders awards, first aid qualifications, Sport Support professional development workshops and LEA CPD programmes. Sport Support also has an experienced team of senior instructors who are readily available to support and mentor other instructors when required.
Quality Assurance
Sport Support monitors all its instructing staff to ensure our high standards and quality of delivery are maintained. This is achieved through an internal procedure involving observations of instructors identifying areas of strength and required development as judged against set standards criteria. This is followed by a feedback meeting, after which appropriate action is taken.
Sport Support has a team of instructors available for delivery in a complete range of activities, with a depth of experience to suit participants of all ages. We support our instructors in their delivery with various resource packs and two distinct and original delivery concepts.
KidzSize Multi-Sports Coaching (KMSC) Concept
The KMSC concept was born from a desire to bridge the gap between secondary level sports specialist coaching and primary level basic skills. This concept is unique to Sport Support , created and developed by its founding members and used throughout all its projects where inclusive coaching is required for primary aged children.
The KMSC concept consists of four distinct delivery methods, focusing on the skill development opposed to the sport itself, with hundreds of proven applications for effective, enjoyable and inclusive coaching across a massive range of skills and sports.
Sport Support staff are trained through Levels 1 to 3 of KidzSize Multi Sports Coaching (KMSC) to ensure competency & consistent standards.
Active Adventure
Sport Support has developed a proven and effective outdoor education and adventurous activities delivery concept and the series of accompanying resources allows us to deliver effective and innovative programmes within this area for all ages and levels of ability and experience.
With a team of highly trained instructing staff able to deliver activities in archery, orienteering, climbing, canoeing, kayaking, high ropes, team building, initiative and problem solving challenges, camp crafts, survival and backwoods skills, we are able to offer a number of superb delivery sessions and programmes in this very specialist area.
