Y.E.S Post 16 Education & Training Course

Youth Engagement Solutions (Y.E.S) offers vocational based alternative education and training for young people aged 16 to 19 years old. The foundation-learning programme provides funded training at entry level and level 1. We have a range of highly popular courses offering personalized learning through different vocationally led routes.

Our focused personalized learning approach allows every learner to have initial assessments to identify learning interest and support requirements, ongoing reviews to learning progression and close contact support to ensure continued engagement and success on programmes.

Y.E.S offers a range of industry led options as the focal point for the practical course providing young people an opportunity to develop ‘real’ and ‘relative’ skills, knowledge and experience.
Once the young person decides which focal activity they wish to train in, they then select from our range of BTEC Level 1 qualification on offer.

All learners also follow a BTEC in employability skills and personal effectiveness, and also have the opportunity to gain qualifications in English, Maths, ITC and Health and Safety Award.

All learners will be given the opportunity to participate within industry relevant work placements. Our courses offer high quality learning in a very ‘real’ environment, which has been praised for its suitability for young people with whom we work.

Outdoors Activities Leaders Course with “BTEC Public Service Certificate”

Learners participate in a wide variety of outdoor adventurous activities (OAA), including archery, team building challenges, canoeing, climbing, kayaking, problem solving, and orienteering and camp crafts.

Throughout all of the practical training we focus on the trainees showing us competence in health & safety, technical understanding and participant support. Working towards a Sport Support Services ‘ACTIVE ADVENTURE (OAA) ASSITANT INSTRUCTORS COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE’.

Learners who attend this course can work through three nationally recognized qualifications;

  • British Safety Council Level 1 Award in Health & Safety at Work
  • BTEC Level 1 Award/Certificate in Sports & Active Leisure
  • BTEC Level 1 Award/Certificate in Supporting Employability & Personal Effectiveness

Football Academy Sports Coaching Course with “BTEC Sports & Active Leisure Certificate”

Learners take part in structured training sessions to improve their own ability and team play, while focusing on how to structure a football session themselves.

This involves them learning how to break down skills to teach and develop with others, understanding fitness and health and planning a soccer specific fitness session, implementing the SAQ concept into soccer and analysing and improving tactical play. Trainees are also taught how to organise a tournament, referee and assure fair play. Through doing this they can work towards achieving a Sport Support Services SOCCER ASSISTANT INSTRUCTORS COMPETENCE CERTIFICATE.

Health Club and Gym Instructors Course with “BTEC Sports & Active Leisure Certificate”

Learners take part in structured training sessions to improve their own ability and knowledge within a gym environment, while focusing on how to structure a training sessions through using different techniques and programmes including such things as free weights, cardiovascular, resistance machines, mat work, kettle bells routines and spinning sessions .

Pre Apprentice & Employment Training Course with “BTEC Vocational Studies & BTEC Employability Skills”

This course provides a ‘real’ industry experience to learning for young people to allow them a broader knowledge and understanding to a range of different industries.
Industry visits allow learners access to different types of work places, providing an insight into a specific industry. This can help participants decide where they may be interested in applying for an apprenticeship or employment. Industry areas that will be experienced include Manufacturing, Retail, Sports & Leisure, Catering, Customer Service, Music and Media Production and Public Services.

Weekly challenges are set with a group of like minded young people, focusing on a topic related to that week’s work place. Based around the popular TV show THE APPRENTICE local businesses get to be ‘Lord Alan Sugar’ for the day setting tasks for the groups to go head to head in business style challenges requiring absolute team work, initiative and entrepreneurship.

Learners participate in a large range of practical tasks based around food preparation, food health and safety, customer services in the industry.

The course aims to allow learners to reflect the skills, knowledge and understanding that are required in the modern hospitality industry. Today’s workforce has to be able to problem solve, work as a member of a team, be able to plan and make decision and work to tight deadlines, to ensure they have the relevant skills and abilities to function as an effective assistant within various areas of hospitality and catering industry.
